Terrifier 2 is the sequel to 2016’s Terrifier. Both movies are about killer Art the Clown (David Howard Thornton), who brutally murders and disfigures people on Halloween. The low-budget horror films are both written and directed by Damien Leone. As reported by Collider, Terrifier 2, which is unrated, was only supposed to be in theaters for one weekend starting Oct. 6, but its run was extended due to high demand. The publication states that the film has made $1.4 million so far on a $250K budget. And it’s been word-of-mouth—namely, people raving about how unbelievably scary it is on social media—that’s made the movie a success. Leone tweeted on Oct. 11, “Because of the demand, Terrifier 2’s theatrical run has been extended into the weekend! An official, detailed announcement is coming asap. To all of the fans who’ve come out to see this film in theaters, we cannot thank you enough!“ae0fcc31ae342fd3a1346ebb1f342fcb For more celebrity news delivered right to your inbox, sign up for our daily newsletter. Some who have seen the movie have shared their thoughts on social media—along with some of the intense reactions they witnessed in their theaters. “#Terrifier2 my friend passed out and the theater called an ambulance. Highly recommended,” tweeted one viewer alongside a photo of their friend speaking to people who appear to be EMTs. Someone else posted, “Just saw Terrifier 2. It was an amazing gory mess. The guy behind me passed out cold n crashed into my chair, another guy left because he didn’t feel good, I overheard him say and walking out theatre door I heard a guy puking hard & loud in the bathroom.” Another person stressed that people who’ve experienced the movie aren’t exaggerating about what it did to them, saying, “TERRIFIER 2: The first movie in my lifetime where I’ve read reports of people fainting and vomiting in the theater, and then after finally seeing it myself thinking, ‘yeah, I get that.’” People who have seen the movie are also making sure that potential audience members know what they’re getting into when they buy a ticket. “So I umm… just got done watching Terrifier 2.. and yeah, this has been the most disturbing movie I have ever seen,” someone tweeted. “Like this [expletive] is on a different level of sadistic. We were so stunned that we couldn’t even speak after it ended.” Another horror fan wrote, “If you were planning on seeing Terrifier 2 I’m gonna warn you all now it’s the goriest film I’ve seen since probably Hostile. If you don’t like really detailed visceral fatalities I’d avoid it. Everyone else GET YOUR [expletive] TO YOUR LOCAL THEATER SO WE GET MORE MOVIES LIKE THIS!” And it seems like the internet buzz is making the filmmaker proud. Leone tweeted in response to an article about Terrifier 2’s impact on audiences, “Word is spreading as people are fainting! #terrifier2 #onlyamovie.”
